So, I realised I haven’t posted a picture of mys So, I realised I haven’t posted a picture of myself in a pretty long time. When I say a pretty long time, I actually mean since my first post on here. I’m just not really a selfie kinda guy! But seeing as being a copywriter is all about making businesses sound more like human beings, I thought I should take my own advice and allow you to get to know me a little bit better...
•
1. I’ve been in the game over 7 years now, providing copy for businesses of all shapes and sizes on both an in-house and freelance basis.
2. The majority of my experience is in providing copy for fashion brands, but I’ve also produced content for food, telecommunications and technology companies.
3. When I’m not writing copy for businesses, I’m writing fiction and poetry. I’ve got a new novel coming out soon called ‘The Nowhere’, which is an Australian coming-of-age story with LGBT+ themes. Follow my author profile @chrisgillbooks
4. I’m obsessed with music of all genres, but some of my all-time favourite artists and bands are Ani Difranco, Incubus, Alanis Morissette and David Bowie.
5. I’m a British Kiwi currently based in Sydney, Australia, where I live with my talented fiancé, @michaelvdk. Give him a follow for kick-ass art direction and photography!
Ok, that’s all I can think of for now. Your turn! What sort of interests do you have outside your biz?

Feel like you’re going round in circles? 🎡 St Feel like you’re going round in circles? 🎡 Stuck in a creative rut? It’s happens to us all. Here are three tips to shake you out from your slump.

1) Change your routine. Whether that’s going for a jog before breakfast instead of after dinner or swapping your latte with a flat white, too much repetition can drain a creative spirit.

2) Take on something new that scares you. Perhaps a client that is outside your niche. Perhaps setting yourself a deadline to finish that novel (and actually sticking to it). When your creative juices dry up, it’s time to challenge yourself.

3) Allow yourself to take a break. I know, that sounds like a crazy idea in our frantic-paced world filled with deadlines, a 24-hour news cycle and the constant scroll of social media. But believe me, sometimes switching it all off is the only way of switching that lightbulb back on. 💡

What do you do when you hit a wall creatively?
